But how and where do you start?
What can be written about, who is the right contact person for my topic or can I also find my topic outside the university?
Many questions, many answers, uncertainty and fears.
After all, the result of this work is usually the first degree.
No and yes. Your job as a Bachelor graduate is to prove that you are able to structure and solve problems in a structured way. The goal is neither the Nobel Prize nor the reinvention of the wheel. Your topic does not have to be completely unique or totally innovative. You have to deal with this in your doctoral thesis. You can safely screw down your claim. Then it breathes much better.
As for the research gap, yes, you have to find that, but it’s not half as exciting as you might think. There is always some aspect that has not yet been fully illuminated; another perspective that can be taken or studies that show conflicting results.
I advise you to search your topic based on your personal interests and for what you also find sufficient literature as a basis. You are looking for a small research gap, not a big one. Where do you get the necessary information from, if (as in my case) nobody or only occasionally released data. Therefore it does not make sense for a bachelor thesis to write about a topic that has not yet been researched.
Literature research is an essential, if not the most important part of a scientific paper!
If you feel that your topic is too general or too big for the scope of your work, then there is a simple trick to further narrow your topic down: make it a practical example!
You probably know that by the term case study or case study. A scientific method that combines practice and theory and is ideally suited for theses. This too can be a pure literary work, but it does not have to be.
Which method makes the most sense for your particular topic is one of the questions that you should discuss with the supervisor of your bachelor thesis.
Your supervisor’s job is to help you narrow the topic so that it is appropriate for the framework of your thesis. He discusses with you your methodical approach to the study of your topic. Caregivers are at best something like your anchor to hold on to during the research process. In the end, they read and evaluate the work and conduct an oral exam with you (Colloquium a.k.a. defense). How far your supervisor is in is very different.
At large universities, the support is often provided by scientific staff. At FHs, the Profs have to do it themselves. Some read your work in between and give feedback, others only look at the structure. Some cite you on a regular schedule, others you almost never see and are barely reachable. That’s why the choice of supervisor is so important. Some students simply need or want more guidance than others.
The quintessence and most important message to this post is the supervisor after sympathy and not necessarily to select the professional criteria.
This creates confidence and a good working atmosphere right from the start.
In other words, the right supervisor may be a lecturer with a different research focus, but who can explain super well, take time for you and where you are not afraid to ask questions.
In my opinion, this is the hardest part, because not only do I read this work, but also the prof or non-specialist people.
Yes, this group also wants to know why this situation is exactly what it says on paper.
Luisa has written some very interesting tips for the structure of the bachelor thesis, which helped me a lot and which I can only recommend!
This was a first introduction how the design of the thesis can look like.
Basically, the work is almost written by itself or? And in case of doubt, there is always the possibility to be completely legally help with the bachelor thesis. by professional editors who read your work before submission and pay attention not only to spelling grammar, but also to an appropriate language. If you are unsure about the correct quotation, you should definitely use a reference management program and run a plagiarism software over it, then in principle nothing can go wrong.
